Discussion Forum (Results): The Future of Boat and Yacht Industry in Indonesia

October 16th, 2011 - by Nino Krisnan

Kakanoo Marine participated as exhibitor in the Marine Solutions Alliance booth at the Indonesia Maritime Expo 2011, 13-15 October 2011, at the Jakarta Convention Center. Thanks to our co-exhibitors, the Boat Indonesia (Indonesian boat community), BAYachts and Kakanoo Marine team were given the opportunity to present a topic of “The Future of Boat and Yacht Industry in Indonesia” on Saturday, 15 October 2011 in the expo’s discussion forum.

Kakanoo Marine CEO presented the topic and had a great time hosting a very good interactive discussion forum, which was attended by local and international audiences. We believe that we and most of the participants had optimistically concluded that there is a bright future for the boat and yacht industries in Indonesia, considering that Indonesia (the largest archipelago in the world, covers around half of the coral triangle, is home to hundreds of different cultures, 95.181 km of tropical coastline, among many things) is one of the world’s greatest playground for boats and yachts. However, we need to keep working on our homework, in keeping with the Indonesian boat and yacht vision. The identified key issues as the homework were:

  • Information Management (source, distribution and access)
  • Business Environment Management  (marketing and promotion, fiscal & monetary regulation, logistic, infrastructure, etc.)
  • Operation Environment Management  (seamanship, seaworthiness, security, SAR, etc.)
  • Environment Management  (pollution, fuel efficiency, waste management, etc.)
  • Industry Environment Empowerment (technology, knowledge, professionalism, synergy, benchmarking, etc.)

BAYachts and Kakanoo Marine, together with our boat and maritime community (Boat Indonesia and Indonesia Maritime Club) and also other stakeholders, keep on working-hard and smart-in order to turn the vision into reality.

Kakanoo Marine in Indonesia Maritime Expo 2011

October 11th, 2011 - by Nino Krisnan

On 13-15 October 2011, Kakanoo Marine will participate in Indonesia Maritime Expo 2011, www.indonesiamaritimexpo.com, the 3rd maritime expo held by Panorama Convex in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Indonesia.

As a marine consultant, Kakanoo Marine cannot handle the opportunities in maritime business related projects by just relying on our own. We need support from other related stakeholders with complementing competence and expertise (boatyards and shipyards, boat and  ship operators, marine logistics, etc.). We need to support each other and together we can even innovate new opportunities and projects.

Kakanoo Marine has created a brand called Marine Solutions Alliance (MSA), www.marinesolutionsalliance.com, where maritime business stakeholders can join together under one roof to promote our competence and expertise in order to synergistically transform Indonesia’s maritime business potentials into opportunities, and opportunities into investments.

We are happy to have you in our MSA Booth at the Indonesia Maritime Expo 2011, Hall A, Booth 34-39, JCC.

Marine Interior

March 30th, 2009 - by admin

In a marine vessel (ship, boat, etc.), marine interior has an important role in contributing to a good vessel’s overall performance.  Most marine vessels are operated by humans therefore a human friendly environment should be put into consideration when designing and building marine vessels.  When humans are happy in their environment, they can perform better.

Marine interior is not equal to luxurious and expensive investment. The amount of money spent is determined by the material specifications of the marine interior design concept.  The concept itself is the most important thing in marine vessel interior designing. It can be luxurious and expensive, but it also can be nice and cost effective.  It all depends to the client requirements and needs.

Unusual room shapes, limited spaces, marine safety rules and regulations, soundproof and vibration issues, corrosive environment, dynamic characteristic (marine vessel’s move, heels, heave, etc.), are things that do not occur in the home or building interior design field. Those issues have to be recognized and considered when generating a marine interior concept and design in ships, boats and other marine vessels and crafts.

In a past year Kakanoo has put marine interior as an important factor in the marine vessel design and building works.   It’s been an interesting field and we are happy to engage in this matter.  We have formed an alliance with our marine interior designer that has been involved in designing marine interior design projects in Indonesia since the early 90s. We now design our vessels’ general arrangement (GA) while taking into consideration the marine interior design factors.  We are able to develop visualization drawings (2D dan 3D) on our marine interior design ideas in order to have a clear picture of the idea for our clients, contractors and our own work.

A good marine interior concept has to be translated into designs and the designs (and specifications) have to be implemented by a marine interior contractor that understands the marine vessels characteristics. This must be done in order to actualize real marine interior work results that bring a human friendly, attractive, cozy atmosphere onboard a vessel.  Kakanoo also has collaboration with an experienced marine interior contractor in order to make your marine interior dream a reality.

We look forward to discussing your marine interior concept and design!

Project Management Issue

February 23rd, 2009 - by admin

In a project, which involves many individuals and characters, harmony between all parties involved in order to achieve common project goals is a must.

Skills, expertise, competence of every individual and organization involved are very important project components. However, without common goals, values/attitudes and also harmony nothing good will be achieved. A project is not about skills or expertise zero sum game competition; it’s about working as a team, guided by shared project missions. Every stake holder is important according to their roles, duties and responsibilities within the project.

Project politics still remain, however, and it’s normal for people like us…. but even politics have to be based on ethics (values/attitudes).

Kakanoo is currently in the process of upgrading our project management knowledge and skill so that we can be more efficient in achieving the main project goals (time, cost and quality).

We are holding an in-house project management training for our own team members. It is part of our learning process… a “must do” process in order to be a better Kakanoo than yesterday.
